Mahindra & Mahindra is prepping up left hand drive KUV100 to be exported to Hungary and South Africa

To cope up with the ever increasing competition from the other automakers of the country, Mahindra is planning to increase it’s exports. Presently Mahindra stands third in sales after Maruti and Hyundai. With the launch and consistent growth of Tiago from Tata Motors, Mahindra got a serious competition. On the other hand Renault-Nissan alliance and Honda Motors are also posing serious competition for third position. Already Honda Motors once displaced Mahindra from third place although for a brief period.

“The LHD version of the KUV100 has been developed in both diesel & gasoline fuel options and the exports will soon start,” a source close to the development told ETAuto.

According to source, Mahindra is expected to export 20,000 units of KUV100 to South Africa and Hungary. Exports to South Africa will go as a kit and will be assembled at its local plant, which was set up in 2004. While in Hungary it will go as Completely Built Units (CBU).

In the first quarter of the fiscal year 2016-17, Mahindra’s PV exports grew by 137 percent to 2,539 units compared to the same period a year ago.

Tata Motors to help Volkswagen develop an Economy Car for emerging markets

One might wonder why Volkswagen approaches Tata Motors to develop a car. Volkswagen has been working on a budget car project since years but failed to keep the costs under control and hence approached Tata Motors(known for developing the world’s cheapest car Nano) for help.

595The auto giant Volkswagen plans to restart its small car project Budget Car. VW management is in talks with with Tata Motors, Manager Magazin reported in its latest issue (release date: July 22).

The Indian automaker should develop the model completely or partially for VW, according to the Wolfsburg Volkswagen headquarters. VW has been working on the project own their own since years. The Budget Car is designed for entry level markets like China and India. For the restart it was internally renamed Economy Car.

The developed in the past model approaches were repeatedly stopped. The VW developers did not get especially the costs under control. The car will be offered cheaper than the previously smallest VW model. The responsibility for the current project lies with brand chief Herbert Diess. Discussions on the possible development contract to Tata would however will be looked after by corporate strategy chief Thomas Sedran.

Traffic Training Park inaugurated in Punjab by Honda 2 wheelers and Ludhiana Municipal Corporation

Extending its commitment to make safe riding an everyday habit for two-wheeler riders, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) today entered into a pact with the Municipal Corporation of Ludhiana to adopt the first-ever Children Traffic Training Park in Punjab.

The upcoming traffic park in Ludhiana is set to be Honda’s tenth such tie-up in India after similar parks in Chandigarh, Jaipur, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Yeola – Nashik, Hyderabad, two in Delhi and a recently inaugurated Road Safety Education center in Indore, an official spokesman said here.

Through a dedicated road-safety team, Honda has trained over 2.6 lakh people on safe-riding in less than 3 years through these traffic parks, he said.

Present at the MoU signing ceremony were Harcharan Singh Gohalwaria, Mayor, Ludhiana Municipal Corporation, GK Singh -Commissioner, Municipal Corporation of Ludhiana, Ghanshyam Thori- Additional Commissioner, Municipal Corporation of Ludhiana, Harpreet Singh- Department Manager, Safe Riding Promotion & Training, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India, Rajeev Singh- Zonal Manager (Sales), Punjab, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India.

Key initiatives by Honda at Children Traffic Training Park, Model Town, Ludhiana will include expert Honda Safety instructors (female & male) to educate new riders on correct riding techniques, Honda’s Proprietary riding trainers which shall aid people above 16 years of age to experience over 100 possible dangers on road.

Speaking on the occasion, Yadvinder Singh Guleria, Senior Vice President-Sales & Marketing, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India said, ” Under ‘People Come First’ philosophy, road safety promotion has been Honda’s top priorities worldwide since 1970. In India too, we follow safety as an integral part of all our business activities.Through various road safety initiatives, we have educated more than 9 lakh individuals including women and kids.”
